Sika Mexicana supports sustainable housing solutions
Through its Mexican subsidiary Sika sponsors Kuxtal, the Mexican team participating at the "Solar Decathlon Latin America & Caribbean 2015" competition. This team consists of college students committed to sustainability and to social welfare. It aims to rethink the way of inhabiting cities in today´s Mexico and to transform the environment in terms of sustainability that has an impact for the construction industry nationally and internationally.
The Kuxtal team for example strives for increasing the quality of life in cities by developing a modular housing complex which is about to be implemented in the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas.
Solar Decathlon is an international competition, created by the US Energy Department. Universities throughout the world design and build housing protoypes that use solar energy as their only power source. With the Solar Decathlon competition innovative systems avoiding the use of fossil fuels and generating strategies of housing and sustainable communities are brought to market maturity.
