In remembrance of Romuald Burkard, who represented the third generation of Sika's founder family Winkler, the Romuald Burkard Foundation was created in 2005. Through this fund the country organizations in developing countries support social and ecological projects to promote self-help locally, for example
- Buildings and infrastructure projects to fulfill social and ecological needs such as water reservoirs, effluent treatments,
- Technological education of construction personnel,
- Ecological water projects correlating indirectly with Sika’s field of waterproofing activities.
The expressed objective is to promote self-help locally. For this reason local Sika companies have to apply for support and see the project through together with their local partners.
