Sika Solutions for Spanish Airports

Recently Sika planned and implemented solutions for four airports in Spain. Airports are mostly a iconic buildings and have high requirements: Their facilities have to last many years in very good conditions. La Palma (SPC): Liquid Applied Waterproofing

The expansion of the La Palma Airport is linked to a new control tower, a renovated runway and a new terminal. Sika delivered 40'000 square meters of waterproofing of frame works on bituminous layer in approach roads. The solution encompasses:

  • Sikaroof Pro + PU: sprayed Liquid Applied Membrane (LAM) System
  • Sprayed membrane: Sikalastik 821 LV
  • Final layer: SikaLastic 821

Menorca (MAH): Strugthural Strengthening with CFRP

Housed in a modern, two-tiered building, Menorca Airport brings visitors from all over Europe and some international destinations to the island. The Sika solution consists of 1'812 linear meters of structural strengthening with Sika Carbodur S812 (CFRP System).

Santander (SDR): Liquid Applied Membrane (LAM) Waterproofing

Extentension works at Santander Airport did include a new control tower. Sika accounts for 2'500 square meters of waterproofing in terraces and shaft on cementitious mortars. The Sika solution:

  • Sikaroof Pro + PU 2C Sprayed LAM System: Sikafloor 156+ Sikaelastic 810 + Sikaelastic 821 LV
  • Sikaelastic: Final Layer
  • Sikaflex 11 FC: Crack and Joint Sealing

T1 Barcelona El Prat (BCN):Liquid Applied Membrane (LAM) Waterproofing

The structure of the new terminal T1 of Barcelona Airport has an area of 544'066 square meters and has a parking apron for aircraft of 600'000 square meters. Sika accounts for 9'000 square meters of liquid applied membrane waterproofing of frame works - before placing asphalt and concrete - in approach road to the terminal. The Sika solution encompasses

  • Sprayed Liquid applied Membrane (LAM) System: Sikafloor 156 + SikaLastic 821 LV
  • Sikagard 720 Epocem: scraping and levelling mortar
  • Sikaflex: crack sealing
  • Sikafloor 261 and aggregates and SikaLastic-825: bonding agent for asphalt
