Energy and Raw Materials

Worldwide demand for resources such as crude oil, coal, natural gas, water, iron ore and copper is rising, driven by population growth and greater purchasing power. These resources are limited however, or their extraction is becoming increasingly expensive. Efficient and effective use of these resources is one of the overriding challenges for future growth.

Production levels cannot cope with demand. There are still vast reserves of most resources to explore, but they are becoming more and more expensive to mine and unearth. Saving fossil fuels and raw materials is more than resource and clime preservation, it has besome a socal necessity.

On the other hand, rising energy and raw material prices have propelled investment in resource efficiency and renewable energy technologies like wind and solar power.
