Trim Shop
The main OEM automotive trim shop applications are direct glazing (windshield, side and back screen) and component bonding (roof, glass roof, cockpit, dvd, spare wheel well, antenna, etc.). A large range of sealing or bonding substrates requires specific pre-treatment options in the form of cleaners, activators or primers.
Depending on the OEM Automotive production process and sequence, Sika has different tailor-made solutions (Sikaflex®, SikaTack®, or SikaForce®) that fulfil customer requirements.
Sealing and Bonding
Trim shop sealers and adhesives are either manually applied using cartridges/unipacks or automatically applied using pails or drums. Sika offers a wide range of chemical products that are moisture curing or have accelerated curing in water (Booster), temperature setting (infared, induction, oven, etc.) or are two-component reactive setting. The main substrates in the trim shop are e-coat, filler, paint, topcoat, different plastics, fibers, glass and ceramic frites. For each substrate, a specific cleaning or pre-treatment is needed.
Bonding Direct Glazing

Component Bonding
Sika has a wide range of fast reacting, high-strength adhesive systems for bonding spoilers, apertures, and other structural components that must comply with very high standards. Sikaflex, SikaFast and SikaForce are proven technologies with good mechanical properties. They are elastic and energy absorbing for dynamic stress and have high initial green strength that holds small parts in place on painted metal and glass substrates.
