Project Description

The »Ultraclean Technology and Micromanufacturing« department is an internationally renowned center of excellence in the field of production processes conducted under cleanroom conditions. It develops integrated, innovative and result-oriented solutions for the automotive, solar, semiconductor or life science industry.

State of the art cleanrooms have been put into operation in 2010. The existing cleanrooms have been refurbished and upgraded with newly installed modern energy efficient systems and equipment, which will reduce the energy consumption of up to 70%. Furthermore, the construction of a new heavy duty cleanroom with a ceiling height of 6m and a bearing load capacity of up to 6t/m² allows the Fraunhofer IPA to test larger production components for the photovoltaic, flat screen or robotic industry.

Project Requirements

The main requirement for the floor and wall coatings for the cleanest cleanroom in the world (10 times cleaner than ISO class 1) was for ultra low VOC/AMC emissions. Particle emissions from the Sikafloor®-269 ECF CR system could be neglected due to the protection by an access raised flooring system.

Sika Solutions

Sikagard-183 W CR was used for the walls and Sikafloor®-269 ECF CR for the floors due to their ultra low VOC/AMC emissions (ISO class -9,6) and excellent bioresistance.
