Sika was the Official Partner of the Formula BMW World Final 2007, which took place  in Valencia, Spain on November 24/25. The involvement of Sika in the event provided an ideal platform for the announcement that Sika will become Promotional Supplier of the BMW Sauber F1 Team as of January 2008.

BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen: “We are very pleased that this longstanding cooperation is now to be taken up by Formula One. Sika, like ourselves and the other partners of the BMW Sauber F1 Team, has the same aspiration towards perfection in its own products. Beyond that, it also means we will have another Swiss element in our team.”

As far back as 1985, BMW and Sika jointly developed the first direct glazing adhesive (Sikaflex) for the BMW M3 as well as the 7 and 5 Series models that came out in the two subsequent years. Later on, this cooperation was extended to acoustic solutions (SikaBaffle) and structural bonding and strengthening for all the BMW Group brands (BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce) at the production sites around the world.
