Improving the sustainability profile of concrete
Argos, the cement branch of the Colombian conglomerate, reduced the paste content (water, cement) in all recipes by unchanged fresh- and hardened concrete properties. Together with Sika extensive laboratory trials and field tests, and professional support as well as assistance in the production during the testing and introduction phase led to the paste volume optimization program in all main concrete plants in Colombia.
The result of this cooperation with Sika has been a significant reduction of cement and water content per m3 concrete by 17%, Furthermore, Argos' annual Carbon Footprint was reduced by by 109,000 tons of CO2 annually.
