Sport Venues for 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia

The Winter Games which began on February 7, 2014 was the result of years of preparation - not only for the athletes, but also for the construction industry.
Sika supplied 6,600 tons Sika® Sigunit® and 2,100 tons Sika® ViscoCrete® concrete admixtures, over 500,000 m² Sikaplan® waterproofing membranes, more than 100,000 m² Sikafloor® flooring products and many other products for the construction of stadiums, roads, train stations, airport, bridges, tunnels and hotel complexes to make Sochi ready for the 2014 Winter Games.

Pascual Guerrero Stadium, Cali, Colombia

This stadium has been the center of sporting culture in Cali and the Cauca Valley since its inauguration in 1937. It has hosted many important events and have been one of the most comprehensive sports arenas in Latin America since the 1950’s.
For the renovation of this project, Sika supplied concrete admixtures, strengthening systems for the structure, flooring systems for spectator areas, and concrete refurbishment and protection systems.

Hernán Ramírez Villegas Stadium in Pereira, Colombia

The Hernán Ramírez Villegas Stadium is the main sporting venue in the city of Pereira. It has been host to several Latin American tournaments including the 2001 Copa America and the South American Under-20’s Football Championship.
This stadium underwent extensive refurbishment and upgrading for the 2011 FIFA Under-20’s Football World Cup Finals, after which it became one of the most modern and attractive stadiums in Colombia.
Sika supplied roof waterproofing systems, joint sealing system, and concrete repair systems to the project.

Krakow Arena, stadium

KRAKÓW ARENA, Poland

Krakow Arena designed by the architectural firm Perbo-Projekt is currently the biggest sports and entertainment venue in Poland which was opened in May 2014 in Krakow. Sika supplied flooring, roofing, concrete refurbishment, joint sealing and structural strengthening systems to this project.

RHEIN-NECKAR-ARENA, SINSHEIM, GERMANY

The Rhein-Neckar-Arena was opened in January 2009. The complex roof structure covers around 21,000m² and consists of 3400 tons of structural steel work, having an exposed surface area of 40,000m². This required a visually attractive and durable protective coating system, specified to prevent corrosion and maintain its good appearance in RAL 9001 cream white color for an extended maintenance free period.Sika supplied this system.

STADIUM CONSTRUCTION AND REFURBISHMENT FOR EURO 08 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

In preparation for the EURO 08 Championships, football stadiums throughout Switzerland and Austria have been built or renovated. Almost all of Sika’s wide range of technologies, systems and products have been utilized to achieve the design objectives of the stadiums and their associated infrastructure and commercial developments. Sika’s expertise and experience have been called on extensively by the responsible general and specialist contractors to ensure not only that the design requirements can be achieved, but that they can be continuously and reliably achieved, practically on site, throughout the year and in all different weather conditions.
