In 2021, Sika UK started to ensure that all powder waste in production is disposed of using zero to landfill routes. The is a clear focus on the reduction of powdered waste generation across the site (Welwyn Garden City).
For Sika, zero waste to landfill is a specific goal that is closely linked to the ambition to avoid and reuse waste wherever possible. All powdered waste is now diverted away from landfill. Which means that all waste produced is either reused, recycled, composted, or sent to energy recovery. Sika UK is now reusing all powdered waste in production at its Welwyn Garden City plant in “Lego style bricks”. In 2021, nearly a 1,000 tons of powdered waste have been recycled.
