On Sika Day, which promotes volunteer work, around 40 Sika employees from the Mannheim site demonstrated their social commitment. They helped the non-profit organization “Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe” in Mannheim to check, clean and maintain their tents, camp beds, emergency vehicles and other materials in the event of a disaster. They also learned more about the work of the Johanniter in civil protection.
A long-standing partnership
Johanniter has been Sika's partner for first aid training in Mannheim for many years. Thomas Gmelin, Site Manager for Sika in Mannheim, is proud of the collaboration: "Sustainability and social participation are firmly embedded in Sika's strategy. By getting involved with the Johanniter, we are not only supporting their mission, but also demonstrating our values and our diversity. Our international employees in particular are very happy about the commitment. We also promote our team spirit and the voluntary commitment of our employees." As a token of appreciation, Gmelin presented the Johanniter a donation check.
Added value for both sides
The volunteer day showed how social commitment can be organized in a way that benefits both sides. The Sika employees were able to gain an insight into the important work of the Johanniter in civil protection and at the same time contribute. The Johanniter were able to get their materials up to scratch and share their experiences with the Sika employees. A successful day for everyone involved.
