Together for a Sustainable Tomorrow
Sika and Sulzer, two Swiss industry leaders, have combined their strengths to address the growing challenge of plastic waste in the construction industry in Europe. Our strategic collaboration aims to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy by enabling scalable, sustainable recycling solutions. With a shared commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility, our partnership sets a new benchmark for how companies can work together to drive meaningful change in the construction environment.
Combining product and process expertise
The foundation of the collaboration is Sika’s experience in polymer applications and high-performance building materials. Sulzer complements this with its advanced recycling technologies and deep process engineering know-how. By integrating their expertise, the companies aim to create a comprehensive recycling ecosystem that maximizes material recovery and minimizes environmental impact in Central Europe.
From concept to commitment
Sika and Sulzer successfully completed a joint proof of concept on roofing membranes. The cooperation is now focused on expanding its scope, developing pilot projects, and engaging with industry stakeholders to drive broader adoption. These activities and customer activities are fully managed by RecyPi, the company newly founded and owned by Sulzer.
The goal of RecyPi is to offer customers a one-stop shop for construction plastics recycling. As a first step, the focus lies on roof renovation projects, where RecyPi provides the new membrane together with complete logistics to collect and recycle the replaced membrane.
If you are looking to recycle your construction products or want to partner with logistics or technology, we invite you to be part of this pioneering initiative. Reach out to explore how your materials can be part of the solution - and help shape a cleaner, more circular future for the construction industry.
