From Complexity to Convenience – The Smarter Coating Solution

For over 50 years, isocyanate–polyol–water–cement systems (NCO-cement hybrids) have been used in construction coatings where high mechanical stress and chemical exposure are expected. These systems offer an excellent balance of performance and cost, thanks to their unique combination of urethane, urea, and cement domains. However, traditional 4-component systems pose challenges in logistics and application, including sensitivity and short pot life.
Xolutec® technology was developed to retain the proven performance of NCO-cement hybrids while simplifying application. By using a calcium hydroxide slurry emulsified in a polyol as the isocyanate hardener, Xolutec® maintains similar chemistry but enables easier packaging and handling comparable to 2-component epoxy systems.

This innovation also allows greater flexibility in tuning toughness and elasticity, making crack-bridging systems possible. Xolutec® is already used in wastewater treatment, industrial flooring, parking decks, and as a durable topcoat. Additional applications are in development and expected to launch soon.

Unique Chemistry
