to support our customers, sales, and technical teams with smart, data‑driven insights and by transforming sand analysis from a complex and time-consuming process to a mobile, data-driven, and efficient task. Developed through close collaboration between IT, business, R&D and technical experts, the Sand App reflects Sika’s commitment to turning deep material know‑how into intuitive digital solutions.
The project combines user‑centric design, agile development, and strong domain expertise to create real value in daily work. Nuage is Sika’s global digital lab platform for capturing, structuring, and connecting R&D data in a consistent and scalable way. It ensures that data is standardised and comparable across geographical and technological boundaries, enabling seamless collaboration between teams worldwide.
By creating a single source of truth for clean, reliable, and structured data, Nuage forms the backbone of Sika’s development data strategy, which is already being used to accelerate R&D by enhancing decision-making, shortening learning cycles, and unlocking data‑driven
innovation at scale.
Leading the global rollout of Nuage across Sika has been an intense and rewarding experience. It has involved work I never previously thought it would have; change management — especially listening to chemists’ concerns and building data literacy across teams — alongside software development and DevOps, which were already closer to my background. Most importantly, it has been about value creation: understanding how a global data platform can deliver meaningful impact across the organisation.
