Driving Climate Action Through Collaboration and Transparency

Make it Zero is designed to catalyse decarbonisation across suppliers and customers in the DIY sector. Through its comprehensive knowledge hub, the initiative provides transparency on emission sources, highlights challenges and opportunities for decarbonisation, and offers strategic  recommendations and key actions for meaningful progress.

A central focus is Scope 3 emissions, which account for up to 98% of the sector’s total greenhouse gas emissions and represent the most complex area to address. The initiative provides a clear industry strategy and roadmap, supporting companies in tackling these emissions effectively.

The collaborative Scope 3 Taskforce brings together retailers and suppliers to align on consistent carbon accounting methodologies, improve supplier data quality, share best practices, and accelerate emission reductions. Through this collective approach, the DIY sector can play a decisive role in achieving meaningful carbon reduction and advancing climate action globally.
