2024
Changhua County, Taiwan
In preparation for the upcoming Hibiki offshore wind project in Japan, Sika carried out a full-scale mock-up trial at the Hibikinada trial site in September 2023. This test phase focused on validating the performance of SikaGrout®-9500 for monopile foundation applications under real project conditions.
Project Description
The project is a milestone in advancing local offshore wind developments in the region and its completion in early March 2024 has allowed for the immediate start of the preparation work for the CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE) Hai Long Project.
Project name: Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Farm
Location: Changhua County, Taiwan
Year: 2023/2024
Application: Jacket foundations
Project Requirements
The project will spread over a 36.54 km² area, with piles being installed at a water depth ranging from 27 to 40 meters. The grouting took place on the Green Jade, Taiwan’s first floating DP3 offshore installation vessel. Sika supplied both materials and quality control expertise for the Offshore Substation (OSS) and jacket foundation scopes of the Hai Long project, further contributing to Taiwan’s renewable energy potential.
Sika Solutions
Sika produced, certified, stored, and delivered 8,000 MT of SikaGrout®-9800 from the Taiwan warehouse facility to the designated port of delivery. Equipment and onshore personnel were provided to carry out the pneumatic material transfer procedure to CDWE’s onshore and offshore silo containers.
Sika provided a field engineer to the vessel upon the client’s request, to review the offshore grouting operations, verify quality control standards, and validate the grouting subcontractor’s handling and documentation of material during the project.
