Protecting people through a strong safety culture

Sika’s vision is a future where every employee, contractor, and stakeholder returns home safely every day. Through leadership, innovation, education, and collaboration, Sika aspires to eliminate all accidents, prioritize workforce wellbeing, and set an industry-leading benchmark for safety excellence.

As part of its Strategy 2028, Sika commits to creating a workplace where Safety is embedded in every action, decision, and interaction. Since 2023, the compensation scheme of Group Management and Sika Senior Managers has been linked to the company’s safety performance, reinforcing accountability at leadership level.

Safety culture and employee engagement

A strong safety culture is essential for preventing accidents and protecting people. Sika actively promotes employee involvement, awareness, and ownership of safety across all levels of the organization. Training is provided at Group and local level for employees, contractors, and temporary workers.

In 2025, Sika conducted its second Global Safety Survey, achieving a strong 82% participation rate, an increase of eight percentage points compared to 2023. The survey assesses how employees perceive the evolution of Sika’s safety culture, identifies differences across regions, functions, and employee groups, and supports the development of targeted improvement actions.

Using the same independent methodology as in 2023, results showed significant progress across all regions. Sika’s global safety culture score increased by 10 points to 67, advancing from the “Dependent” to the “Independent” stage of the Bradley Curve™.

This improvement reflects the positive impact of strengthened safety processes, and employee participation in audits and training initiatives. While improvements were recorded across all dimensions, leadership remains a key focus area, particularly in communication, recognition, and engagement. Survey results have been analyzed at regional, country, and functional level, and action plans will be implemented in 2026 to address identified improvement areas.

Looking ahead, Sika plans to conduct the next Global Safety Survey by 2028, with the ambition to reach the “Interdependent” stage, where teams feel ownership and responsibility for safety and believe that zero injuries is an attainable goal.

Management systems

Sika maintains a Corporate Management System (CMS) applicable to all locations and employees, fulfilling the requirements of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) and ISO 9001 (Quality Management). Local Sika companies implement their own management systems based on the CMS and local legal requirements. Newly acquired companies are integrated into the CMS as part of the Group’s integration approach.
