Carbon UI dashboard with project overview

By accessing Preferences, the user can fully customize the units of measurement for International System or US Customary (Imperial System) units of measure.

Measurement Preferences in Engineering Software

In each project, the lateral bar is always visible and shows the project title, the design guideline in use, and the selected product catalog.
Additionally, the icons indicate the progression of the input.
Various icon colors mean the following:

  • Green means that section is complete
  • Grey means that section has not been opened yet
  • Red means there is some issue or some data is missing in that section
Structural Column Confinement Project Interface

Products from the selected country catalog can be chosen. Depending on the catalog and the specific project, design options include Sika® CarboDur® plates, SikaWrap® fabrics, and near surface-mounted (NSM) profiles.

The software provides real-time calculations. The results are shown in the Strengthening step, with all relevant figures and numbers displayed and fully controlled by the user.

Confinement

The Confinement module allows the design of structural strengthening through fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) confinement for reinforced concrete (RC) sections subjected to biaxial bending moments. This module facilitates the analysis of columns subjected simultaneously to axial loads and bending moments acting in two orthogonal directions.

It is possible to design FRP confinement strengthening for rectangular and circular RC sections.

Structural column design interface with dimensions

The load input process is straightforward, and the section's use ratio under various design loads is displayed instantly - including ultimate limit state (ULS), serviceability, and fire.

Structural Load Analysis Dashboard Interface

The design of strengthening is carried out quickly, with the outcomes shown instantly.

Structural analysis interface with data metrics

When the selected design guideline is based on Eurocodes, the fire resistance of the RC section can be evaluated using the “Isotherm 500° C method”. Furthermore, it is possible to track the evolution of isotherms over time throughout a fire event.

Fire resistance analysis with heat distribution

Flexural

The Flexural module allows the design of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) systems for reinforced concrete (RC) sections subjected to both positive and negative bending moments, including scenarios involving also axial loads.

It is possible to use rectangular, T-shaped, inverted T, double T-shaped, or slab sections.
It is possible to use normal and prestressed steel.

I-beam dimensions interface with metrics

The load input process is straightforward, and the section's use ratio under various design loads is displayed instantly - including ultimate limit state (ULS), serviceability, and fire.

For the design of the section, it is also possible to consider an axial load (i.e. inclined beams).

Structural Load Analysis Dashboard Interface

Strengthening can be designed through either externally bonded reinforcement (Sika® CarboDur® or SikaWrap®) or NSM profiles (Sika® CarboDur® NSM).
Furthermore, the FRP can be applied not only to the soffit but also to the lateral sides of the beam, with the results displayed immediately.

Shear

The Shear module allows the design of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) systems for reinforced concrete (RC) sections subjected to shear forces.

It is possible to use rectangular or T-shaped sections.

Beam section diagram with dimensions

The load input process is straightforward, and the section's use ratio under various design loads is displayed instantly - including ultimate limit state (ULS), serviceability, and fire.

For the design of the section, it is also possible to consider an axial load (i.e. inclined beams).

Structural Load Analysis Dashboard Interface

Strengthening can be designed through either externally bonded reinforcement SikaWrap® or preformed profiles (only in case of lateral wrapping).
Furthermore, the FRP can be applied not only to the soffit but also to the lateral sides of the beam, with the results displayed immediately.
